Communications & Collaboration Differentiation (KAT) Lesson Preparation Collaborative Brainstorming Content Curation Description
Padlet is a web-based post-it board and does not require any software installation. You can curate information onto virtual bulletin boards using a simple drag-and-drop system. You can start with a template or a blank page, add videos, text, links, documents, images, and more to the wall, and organise it, like a page full of Post-it notes.
Padlet Backpack account is available to all NIE faculty. Check out our
guide to find out more.
How it works
-
Start a new Padlet by selecting a layout. There are 8 layouts with different styles to choose from.
-
Start posting a note by clicking on the + icon in the Padlet.
-
Users can type in text, upload files, share a link, insert google images and more.
-
Share the Padlet with others via a link, embed to website, add to LMS, email or Google classroom.
Features- Allow to create a wall, make it public, and ask students to share what they know and what they want to know about a topic
- Moderation facility can be turned on for the instructor to approve all notes before they appear. Padlet works well when projected on an interactive whiteboard
- Students were able to access the wall very quickly. The website lets you “mobilize” your wall and create a QR code
- Perfect for collaboration and invite others to contribute and work with unlimited contributions
- Turn on profanity filters, comments, and voting features for more collaboration
Affordances- Allows for comments on individual feedback without cluttering the board space.
- Notifications allow teachers to moderate the wall in real-time from anywhere.
- Padlet walls can be saved for future reference or to keep records.
- Privacy settings on the app can be used to customize the extent to which students can participate. Includes a password-protected wall or link-only access.
- Makes collaboration in a virtual learning environment easier by allowing users to view and edit both synchronously and asynchronously.
Limitations- No way to truly regulate what students post.
- Must pay for the more advanced features.
- Limits new users to 3 Padlets.
