Quiver is an augmented 3d colouring app which allows users to create beautifully hand-animated 3d worlds. This can be done by allowing users to print from a suite of interesting templates such as aeroplanes and dragons, and then users will be able to use colouring materials such as pens and colour pencils to customise their pictures. With the Quiver app, the 2d pictures come to life as augmented reality objects which allows for a huge variety of movements and interactions. These assets can be used to make learning more immersive even from within the classroom, which would capture students’ engagements.
As Educational technology improves at an unprecedented rate due to the boom of the fourth industrial revolution, young learners are exposed, or sometimes, overexposed to the new and advanced tech surrounding them. Quiver, in this instance, can ground students to ‘go back to basics’ by allowing them to pursue a traditional kinaesthetic activity of colouring a drawing. In this sense, students realise the value of simplicity, and derive enjoyment from a simple colouring exercise. At the same time, Quiver also introduces to students how tradition can be enhanced with the latest tech, with their flat, coloured 2d item being brought to life in a 3d space. It becomes a teachable moment for students, as students realise that technology is never a be-all and end-all, but merely a tool to enhance learning, in the educational context.
