What is the BUILD programme?
The BUILD (Building University Interns for Leadership Development) programme serves to provide a structured process for the students of the Teaching Scholars Programme at NIE to derive optimal experiences and benefits from learning and serving with relevant institutions, organisations, agencies and companies so as to develop them in their future roles as educational leaders.

Profile of Students
Our TSP students are Singapore citizens who display good character, passion for education and strong leadership qualities which are evident in their Junior College or Polytechnic records, such as CCA achievement awards, etc. They are also proactive in their work, and have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Their outstanding academic results in Junior College or Polytechnic are also one of the reasons why they are selected as a teaching scholar.
 
Learning Objectives
  1. To provide TSP students with professional immersion experiences beyond schools;
  2. To learn leadership and operations skills from a different industry where possible;
  3. To develop values and skills that promote personal growth;
  4. To develop attitudes conducive to effective interpersonal relationships;
  5. To develop skills in the application of theory in practical work situations beyond the classroom;
  6. To develop personal networks useful for future organizational collaborations.
 
In the 5 weeks attachment period, students should be able to:
  1. Apply acquired knowledge learned in the university to situations beyond the classroom environment.
  2. Acquire life competency skills and values that will promote personal growth and development.
  3. Acquire good corporate practices that support their future roles as career counsellors
  4. Support a work project that will value add to the function and operations of the partner organisation.
